About Me

Hi there! My name is Nicholas Busuttil, and I’m an independent illustrator and animator. I’ve loved cartoons for as long as I can remember, and that passion has stayed with me into adulthood. In the early 2010s, I discovered a small animation program on my Nintendo DSi called Flipnote Studio, which became my first real introduction to animation. I have a ton of fond memories of my cousin and I coming up with wacky stories and turning them into cartoons together. The fun that we had during that creative process and the excitement of seeing our family enjoy what we had made inspired me to keep creating and developing my skills, ultimately leading me to pursue illustration and animation as a career.

Since then, I’ve earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the Fashion Institute of Technology, where I built a strong foundation in stylistic consistency and composition. I also worked as an Illustration & Animation Intern at Momomoon, collaborating with their art team to create expressive character animations for their social media campaigns. That experience strengthened my ability to work within established visual styles while still making character movement feel engaging, clear, and full of personality. I’m especially interested in how characters exist within their environments and how color, shape, and detail can support mood and storytelling.

I’m comfortable working across multiple workflows, most notably Adobe Animate, and I enjoy exploring ideas through drawing, iteration, and experimentation. I value open feedback and continuous growth, and I approach each project with strong organization, clear communication, and a commitment to creating thoughtful, well-crafted work.
